Transparent (drawing) Slates were educational toys in the late 19th century. Through tracing images, children could learn handwriting and drawing techniques.
A glass drawing slate is set within a wooden frame. An additional piece of wood in back, with a moveable wooden brace, holds the slate onto the frame. Inside the slate are engraved images for copying.
